You can get to the Island of Maribor (Mariborski otok) by walking up right next to the river, or by car or bus to the Mariborski otok (from center about 1km) leave your car in the parking lot (free of charge) and continue on foot right next to the river, right side from the bridge about 300m on the trail up the end of the path, then you descent down by the stream below the power plant. The gay beach there is also marked and intended only for gays. Great location in the summer for sunbathing, ect.
